INTERVIEWS 3.1 Visa up to 6 months: Optional 3.2 Visa above 6 months: Personal presence of applicant required in all cases. 3.3 Pakistani Nationals/ Persons of Pakistani origin: Visas are issued after prior clearance of Competent authority. Verification of particulars Fee K.Sh. 200/- 4. NOTES 4.1 US citizens are required to pay a processing fee of KSh.1560 besides normal Visa Fee. 4.2 Visa fee once paid is not refunded even if a visa is denied without giving any reasons. 4.3 Incomplete and unsigned forms are not entertained. 4.4 Visa applications must be signed by the applicant himself/herself. 5. Documents required: Except for Nationals of Pakistan and Bangladesh All applicants are required to - 5.1 Fill in the prescribed application form, sign it by the holder of the passport and nobody else. The signature of the passport holder must tally with that in the passport or else the holder must sign in the presence of the Visa Officer. 5.2 Enclose a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate which becomes valid only 10 days after the inoculation. 5.3 Enclose confirmed air tickets to India and onward or return, as applicable. 5.4 Enclose two recent passport size (37 mm x 37 mm) photographs. One photo must be affixed on the Visa application form on the space provided and the other must be attached to the application Form. 5.5 Enclose a valid Kenya Re-Entry Permit or permit for onward destination on the passport. 5.6 Enclose a national passport of sufficient validity with one full blank page for endorsement of Visa. 5.7 Enclose a copy of Kenya Dependent/Alien's Pass for all Non-Kenya normally domiciled in enya. Additional documents required for a Student Visa: 5.8 Proof of admission in a recognized educational institute of India , both the original and a photocopy must be attached. Receipt of applications 5.9 The original letter from Kenya Ministry of Education recommending the issue of a Student Visa. 5.10 Satisfactory evidence of financial support and Affidavit of financial support from parent/guardian of the student. This must be accompanied by a Bank Guarantee in the format described by the Kenya Ministry of Education and a photocopy of the parent/guardian's bank statement. 5.11 Photocopy of AIDS Test Certificate from a recognised Kenya Government Hospital only for new students. 5.12 An undertaking by the applicant (in the prescribed format to undergo AIDS test in India . DIPLOMATIC & OFFICIAL VISAS 1) Documents Required II. Recent Photographs (Passport size) - 2 copies; III. Valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate; IV. A national Passport (Diplomatic/Official) of sufficient validity; and V. An official communication from the concerned diplomatic Mission / UN offices in Kenya , Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Kenya , recommending visa. 2) Information I. Diplomats and officials assigned to India are initially granted Entry visas valid for three months. On arrival in India , multiple entry visas are issued for the period of assignment of the diplomat/official in India , subject to reciprocal arrangement, by the Ministry of External Affairs (Protocol Division), New Delhi ; II. Spouses/members of families of diplomats/officials posted in India or visiting on official duty are eligible for visas admissible to their spouses/parents, as the case may be. III. Foreign diplomats and officials transiting through India enroute to the country of their posting may be granted diplomatic, official or transit visas, as the case may be; IV. Diplomats/official passport holders visiting India for religious purposes are required to apply for visas well in advance, as in all such cases prior clearance from the appropriate authority in India is required for granting visas. V. FEE STRUCTURE Official visit - Gratis Non-official visit - K.Sh. 3120/- (up to 6 months validity) VI. Delivery time - Between 2 to 4 PM on following working day. TOPSTUDENT VISASAll international students wishing to go to India for higher studies on self-financing or under scholarship schemes are, required to obtain Student Visas before their departure for India . Students applying for Research Visas need clearance from New Delhi . They are, therefore, required to apply well in advance. 1. Documents required: I. Application in prescribed form II. A valid national Passport. III. Valid yellow fever vaccination certificate; IV. Recent photograph (passport size) - 2 copies; V. Proof of admission for new students, and last college Identity card for old students (original and photocopy); VI. Original letter from the Kenyan Education Ministry recommending student visa. VII. Satisfactory evidence of financial support: Affidavit of financial support from parent/guardian of the student accompanied by:
(a) Bank guarantee in the format prescribed by the Ministry of Education, Republic of Kenya ; (b) Parent's/guardian's latest bank statement.
I. AIDS test certificate from a Government recognised hospital. II. An undertaking by the applicant (in prescribed format) to undergo AIDS test in India on first arrival if necessary; and III. Confirmed air ticket for travel to India . 2. Information i) A student visa can be granted for the full duration of the course of study (subject to a maximum of five years) if admission is confirmed, and up to three months if admission is provisional. The period of visa may be extended in India on getting admission within the initial visa period. Otherwise, the student has to leave the country before the expiry of the visa. (ii) Foreign students are not allowed to change the purpose of their visit after arrival in India . If they enter India on tourist or any other visa, they cannot extend their stay as their visas cannot be converted into student visas even after getting admission. Therefore, all students intending to pursue studies in India must obtain a "Student Visa" and not any other visa for their entry into India . (iii) While granting a student visa, name of the School, College/University where the admission has been secured is required to be mentioned in the visa stamp . A request for change of university subsequently is not entertained. A student should, therefore, apply for visa only after deciding where he intends to study. (iv) All foreign students who are expected to stay in India beyond six months are required to register themselves with the concerned Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) within fifteen days of their entry into India . (v) Av fee: K. Sh. 5850/-is payable for the full duration of the course of study (up to a maximum of five years). Where the period of visa granted is less than the duration of the course of study proposed, the duration of visa will be extended in India by the FRRO without charging any additional fee, provided the admission is confirmed and the course is of less than 5-years' duration. Otherwise the student has to leave the country before the expiry of the visa. TOPOTHER VISASI. Application in prescribed form II. A valid national Passport. III. Valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (certificate becomes valid only 10 days after the inoculation); IV. Recent photograph (passport size): PAKISTANI NATIONALS - 5 For OTHERS - 2 V. Air tickets (to India and onward or return) as applicable VI. Valid Kenya Re-entry Permit or permit for onward destination on the Passport VII. A national passport of sufficient validity (with one full blank page for endorsement of visa); and VIII. Copy of Dependent/Aliens Pass, as evidence of residence in Kenya (applicable to resident Non-Kenyan foreign nationals only) VIII. The applicant has to be personally present in Kenya while applying for visa. Notes: 1. Submission of these documents does not necessarily guarantee the issuance of a visa; and 2. Submission of fraudulent documents or concealing any material information may render the applicant permanently ineligible for obtaining visa.
INFORMATION 1. Documentation requirements are slightly different for nationals of Pakistan and Bangladesh . Indian High Commission may be contacted for details. II. Visas for India are not granted on arrival in India . However, travellers having confirmed onward air or sea booking can get landing facility up to 72 hours on arrival for purposes of transit. III. A Special permit is needed for visiting protected/restricted areas. IV. A visa is valid only for the purpose for which it is issued. Visas, particularly Tourist Visas, are neither extended nor converted for any other purpose in India . V. Visa becomes effective from the date of its issue. VI. Duration of Visas: Admissible Periods for different types of visas are as under:
VII. INTERVIEW Optional for visas up to six months. However, personal appearance required for visas for more than six months and all Student, Research or Employment visas. VIII. DELIVERY ** Between 2 to 4 PM on the following working day for Kenya residents (more than five years stay) *** After four working days for others, and *** After six weeks where prior approval of the concerned authorities is required. IX. REGISTRATION WITH FRRO Foreigners holding Visas for more than Six Months are required to register themselves with the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) if they stay in India for a continuous period of 180 days. Foreigners of Indian origin willing to visit India for short period each year to meet their relatives, can be granted 5 year multiple entry visas with the stipulation that each stay shall not exceed 180 days. In such cases no registration would be required. However, immediate registration with the FRRO/ Designated Police Officer in smaller districts, is necessary when stay exceeds 180 days. While Foreigners Regional Registration Offices (FRRO) are located in Mumbai, Calcutta and New Delhi , in Chennai, the Chief Immigration Officer and in other cities/districts the Senior Superintendent of Police is designated as the FRRO. Validity of all visas is to be counted from the date of issue of the visa
X. RESIDENTIAL PERMITS he FRRO issues residential permits to the visitors to India holding long term visas, for their continued stay in India . Application for extension of stay in the prescribed form has to be submitted to the concerned FRRO at least fifteen days before expiry of the residence permit.
